In the Cavern of His Soul
A cavern unfurled within his chest
as he lay next to me.
I tensed and wrenched myself away
for I’d seen madness in a man before.
But he drew me in, locked his eyes to mine:
“There’s more to explore in the cavern of me.”
Embraced in sight,
hand holding mine
“I’m asking if you’ll know me.”
Delicately spilled my gaze
down into his soul.
Oh, how love distills every fear.
